CODE, The Useless

Oh, Code, Code, Code….

For those of you that aren’t aware, but should have received emails.  Divine Reapers is at war with TWO code corporations.  As the email stated, you don’t want to have to look back at a later date and explain how you missed this because Destiny just came out *cough* @justin.moser.3133, or because of how you had to get your PVP toon leveled up on AD side in ESO *cough* @lillyaustin or how the bottles of alcohol just kept calling your name *cough* @paled.  Trust me when I tell you that when this is over, you will have wanted to be a part of it.

Ok, for those of you that haven’t been keeping track.  Here is a little briefing to get you updated in EVE Politics before we get on with this article.  If you have been following along already, jump here.

Need To Know: EVE

EVE Online is an open-world sandbox based heavily around PVP.  There is no solid mechanic in EVE that ever prevents PVP.  There are relative safe-areas around EVE referred to as HighSec where if someone egresses your ship while out in space, the space police, known as CONCORD, will warp in and blow up the aggressor.  This means that there is no such thing as a “safe area” as your safety is relative to your footprint and ability to refrain from local chat chatter.  This also means that people can kill you in highsec but nearly guaranteed to loose their own ship in the process.  Generally speaking if the value of your ship is greater than the value of what an opponent would loose and they think they can take you, they will most likely attack in HighSec, though it is very rare.

In EVE Online there are several different types of game-play like in most MMO’s.  You have your PVP, PVE, and Tradeskilling/Crafting.  Miners, which is the subject of this article with CODE are your resource gatherers for crafting.

Need To Know: CODE

CODE was a spawn of an EVE era where miner bots were really bad.  They received a very nice start from community support in the opposition of these types of miners.  Most people will agree, as do we, afk anything in any game that requires human intervention is a bad idea and it ruins game-play for everyone playing around them or with them.  This was a great cause, but as afk miners ceased to exist, CODE digressed into something a lot darker and malevolent, masquerading as the same organization with a code of conduct they impose on all players.

Today, CODE makes use of high-sec combat to extort miners.  Allow me to explain that.   Three weeks ago, our corp sees this conversation in local chat (victim names are changed to protect their identity) after a day of hunting in lowsec:

[00:00:00] Kalorned > Are you there Miner?
[00:00:12] Miner > Yeah, what’s up?
(Kalorned’s alts kill Miner)[00:00:28] Kalorned > I am sorry Miner.  That response time was unacceptable and you have been found in violation of the code.  Your permit is revoked until you pay another 10,000,000 ISK to reinstante it.
[00:00:44] Kalorned > Furthermore you must address all CODE enforcers as Sir or Lord.
[00:00:51] Kalorned > (Kill report removed) Everyone must follow (Code gibberish removed)

What got our attention in this matter was the conversation that followed.  This miner pled with Kalorned and stated that he was not AFK and had paid his permits for the EIGHTTH TIME that month, each time an agent citing in some way how he was in violation; he didn’t say ‘sir’, he didn’t greet the code enforcer with, ‘please save me from unbelievers!’, etc.  The dogmatic ideologically of this organization is so thick you could suffocate a cockroach.  But that’s not all.  Code seems to have taken issue with our corporation when we snapped back one day in defense of another extorted miner by stating that they were extorting people and if they would just call it that instead of a “divine gift to highsec” we would go about our business.  They couldn’t call it extortion, in fact they swore up and down that it was anything but extortion.

So, lets visit the trusty Wikipedia for what extortion really is.

Extortion (also called shakedown, outwresting, and exaction) is a criminal offense of obtaining money, property, or services from a person, entity, or institution, through coercion. Refraining from doing harm is sometimes euphemistically called protection. Extortion is commonly practiced by organized crime groups. The actual obtainment of money or property is not required to commit the offense. Making a threat of violence which refers to a requirement of a payment of money or property to halt future violence is sufficient to commit the offense. Exaction refers not only to extortion or the unlawful demanding and obtaining of something through force,[1] but additionally, in its formal definition, means the infliction of something such as pain and suffering or making somebody endure something unpleasant.[2]

To the Main Story

Thankfully there is coffee, as I wake up this morning my attention is brought to this post by CODE.

I always enjoy watching isk pile up in the wallets of the most loving people in highsec. Reimbursement fuel, ahoy!

nemuritoru joined the august ranks of New Order shareholders with a purchase of 1,500 shares, sending us over the 403 and 404 billion isk marks. nemuritoru earns a Double Supreme Protector’s Tip of the Hat™ for this feat.

Want an explanation for this out-of-the-blue purchase? Here you go:

Lets talk about some of the things that are right here.

White Knighting

1. One that comes to the rescue; a savior.

Yes, we can be called white knights.  I see that our actions are helping to distract and divert the attentions of CODE on innocent players as the right thing to do and likely rescuing them from more levied extortion.  They couldn’t have more aptly given a label.  The question is, who are we white knighting?  That would be innocent miners and freighters, as I’ll blow up the afk counterparts myself.

Well you really have no option when you see the wrongs going on around you and everyone else seems too terrified to step up and do anything.  I’m not terrified — its game and I’m as comfortable with calling a douchebag a douchebag as as having bacon for breakfast.

Indeed they are. The articles of atrocities enumerated here:

1) CODE is nothing more than an extortion racket — Atrocity.

2) CODE’s code is not a code at all — Atrocity.

3) The intentional absence at the Alliance Tournament — Major Atrocity.

But lets go back to #1.  The dogma. Lets look at his first quote.

Oh Lord protector and divine rule of High Sec

What the fuck did I just read?  How could one get any more sniveling, servile, ass-licking than that? How is it possible? Folks, if your sole aspiration in life was to see the lowest ass-licker on the planet, your life is over because I just found him. Not only is this the lowest ass-licker on the planet, but he’s ass-licking the lowest of the low — those that profit from extorting those that have the inability to defend themselves. This is the dogmatic ideology I was talking about.  To spin this any other way than the lowest ass-licking of an extortion racket can’t be anything other than ideological dogmatic bullshit.  This is what CODE is built on.  Lets all see who can put the biggest raspberry on James’s penis is the attitude of everyone in CODE. They don’t serve HighSec.  They don’t serve you.  They serve themselves and James 315.

Don’t get me wrong, CODE has some good points to them, like their new found ability for time travel.  This is stuff Einstein couldn’t perfect or achieve and yet they have found a way to master it.

Look back at the quote from CODE’s website:

nemuritoru joined the august ranks of New Order shareholders with a purchase of 1,500 shares, sending us over the 403 and 404 billion isk marks. nemuritoru earns a Double Supreme Protector’s Tip of the Hat™ for this feat.

Nemuritoru was sold to the code enforcer, Mazer Maulerant on SEPTEMBER 1, 2014. And so, we have time-travel.  You see, how is it possible for this guy to obtain the character in September and yet be a benefactor of CODE in August?  Unless…

Yet it doesn’t end there. You see, a conversation I had with another “CODE supporter” that wardec’ed us just yesterday had this to say.

Here is all you need to know — she claimed to have access to our EVE Online forums — like super fucking primo spy vs spy. But you see, our forums didn’t exist prior to me joining EVE Online. So again it must be…

But I do have a much more likely explanation.  You see, once someone has told enough lies, keeping track of them to keep them believable gets exponentially harder the more you add to the list. Eventually things like time-travel have to become possibilities for your story to be possible.  You see CODE seems to have a habitual lying problem.  I’m glad I could point that out.

And now for the grand finale, the reason I made this post today.  CODE, in all their intellectual splendor, tried to declare war against our corp in efforts to what? Stop us?  Slow us down?  Discredit us?  I’m not particularly sure of their motivations, but I can say this:  Before the war, we had a problem getting miners to believe a new corporation was trustworthy and rightfully so.  You see, before this war started, it was really hard to get a hold of a CODE enforcer’s killright.  Miners thought that we were a trap — one of those corporations setup to find which miner was violating the CODE to kill them again and make them pay more extortion money.  Since this war though, I get about 10 of these per hour.  It is fucking beautiful.

CODE, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You.

Your salty tears go great with a dash of karma.

Edit: PS.  CODE, while I know you are trying to annoy me with all the offline spam you do in local chat, such as waiting until you know I’m afk and sleeping to do your shit talking in local, do keep in mind that 10 tells per hour giving our corp killrights on your members may be a bit cumbersome when you are requesting discourse in local again.  Trust me, if I’m at the keyboard or looking a local, I’ll respond as I always do just to call you on your bullshit.  In the mean time, please have a look at the latest CODE kill:

War is Declared Against Divine Reapers

As most of you just got an email may know, we have had a war declaration against us by The Charitable Foundation of Hope run by a sole operator Nemuritoru (Killboard) which is a toon that was just bought by Mazer Maulerant (Killboard). This doesn’t mean he will be the sole operator. Because he has gone through extreme lenghts to hide his identity, we believe that he may be bringing a lot more people to the party. We are preparing and counting on that this guy will either join an alliance once the war has set in or will invite a roster full of friends. Not that this is anything unusual in EVE, we will be needing all hands on deck — PVPer’s rejoice! This does mean we will need your help!

If you can help us out, create a free trial account; blast through the tutorial asap and we’ll get you into a pvp ship with pvp gear. You can also view the war report as it is happening from the war report button below.
